Open Source

We can obviously trust neither the established manufacturers nor the governmental organisations. Whom then?

Ourselves. The idea is: "openness instead of trust". It is called open source.

More and more, the realisation is gaining ground that security can only be achieved by disclosing the procedures used.

With disclosed software, any insider can check whether backdoors are built in. Not every backdoor will be detected immediately, but an attacker cannot be sure that he will remain undetected.
